How Word Souq handles information, on this site, at wordsouq.app and in the apps. Last updated 21 September 2026.
- No accounts. We never ask for your name, email or phone number to play.
- No tracking. Nothing in Word Souq follows you around the web, and we sell nothing about anyone.
- Your progress lives on your device, not on our servers.
What stays on your device
Your progress (the words you have met and how each one went, your XP, streak, achievements and settings) is saved on your phone or in your browser. We never receive a copy.
- Android: your progress is included in your phone's own Google backup, if you have backup switched on, so it can come with you to a new phone. That backup is between you and Google; we cannot see it.
- iPhone and iPad: your progress is part of your device's backup in the same way, handled by Apple.
- Browser: it stays in that browser. Clearing the site's data deletes it.
What reaches our server
Each puzzle is put together on our server. To deal you the right words, the game sends the puzzle's settings (mode, size, topic, direction) and the lists of words you have already met and are due to review, so you are not dealt repeats. That is used to build the puzzle you asked for and is not stored.
The game may also hold a play token: a random code with an expiry date that shows a request came from the game. It carries nothing about you and we keep no record of it.
Keeping out bots
To stop automated copying of the word list, requests are limited per IP address, and the game may ask Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person is playing. Cloudflare handles your IP address for these checks; we do not store it.
Hosting and logs
Word Souq runs on Cloudflare. Like any web service, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details (such as the page asked for and the time) to deliver the site and protect it, and short-lived technical logs are kept for a few days so we can fix problems. We use them for nothing else.
This site and the web game load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers for them.
Reminders, sound and sharing
- Reminders in the apps are scheduled on your phone. No message is sent from our servers, and you can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Pronunciation uses your device's built-in voice. The microphone is never used, and nothing you say is recorded.
- Sharing a result only happens when you tap Share, through your phone's or browser's own share options.
If you contact us
When you send a message through the contact form, we receive your message, the email address you give (so we can reply) and your name if you add one. We use them only to answer you, and they stay in our support inbox. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out spam bots.
Children
Word Souq is a vocabulary game for everyone. Because it asks for no personal information, it collects none from children or anyone else.
Your choices
You can erase all your progress at any time with Reset progress in the game's settings, or by uninstalling the app or clearing the site's data. As we hold nothing about you, there is nothing to request from us, but you are welcome to ask anything.
